Parent Involvement
If young children could talk, they’d say: “When my parents and teachers talk to each other, I feel safe. I know everyone cares about me. When the rules are the same at home and school, things make more sense, and I don’t worry about what will happen next. When the grown-ups work together, I feel happy and brave enough to try new things and learn new stuff.”
Zimmer Preschool is renowned for its warm and welcoming community, where parents come together to support each other and the school. This partnership is a key part of what makes Zimmer so special for our children and families. Whether you’re a first-time family or a returning one, your involvement helps our community thrive.
We’re grateful for our wonderful community of families who partner with us to make this possible. Here’s how we do it:
Communication: Parents stay informed and connected through daily updates on Brightwheel, weekly emails, monthly blogs, bi-annual conferences, and yearlong portfolios. Conversations also happen naturally and regularly, building trust and partnership.
Family participation: Parents and extended family are encouraged to visit classrooms and share what makes them unique—their interests, vocations, skills, and talents.
School-wide events: Our calendar includes many opportunities for families to come together, including our annual Shabbat Dinner, Thanksgiving Feast, Chanukah with Daddies, Winter PJ Party, Grandparents Day, Purim Masquerade, Matzah Baking, Spring Planting Day, Art Show, and End-of-Year Celebrations. Kindergarten also hosts a Showcase of Learning, where students share their achievements with their families.
Parent Committee: Parents of Zimmer (POZ) is a volunteer group that brings families together to support our school and each other. By organizing events and fundraisers, POZ helps create the warm, connected community that makes Zimmer special. Whether you’re new or returning, your involvement makes a difference—join us to connect, contribute, and build lasting friendships.
